Excellent
I never leave reviews but felt compelled to say how much I love your podcast. The darker side of true crime isn’t for everyone. Family and friends think I’m nuts. The human mind fascinates me. What factors play a part in these sick peoples mind. Ive learned of many people I never heard about before. It is no easy task to crawl into the minds of these people. I have so much appreciation for the work you put into your podcast.

No Fluff
What this podcast does well: Interesting stories of lesser known crimes. No banter, no “fluff”, and no editorializing. Just facts. Respect for victims and their families. What this podcast could work on: Editing. Mispronunciations. There are at least three or four in every episode along with some occasional incorrectly used words. It’s distracting. I think these kinks will get worked out with more Patreon supporters and the ability to hire more staff. The one star reviews that refer to “SJW pandering” should be ignored. Those can only be from failed podcasters who are jealous of this increasingly successful podcast.

Leopold and Loeb murder research note
In the 1990’s is was introduced to Admand Deutsch, a B movie producer of 1940’s films, by my boss Robert E Petersen of Petersen Publishing note. I was the editor of SPORT magazine and Mr Deutsch told me a story at one of our lunches about his time in the Army promoting events to support the war effort. Mr Deutsch was also writing a book at that time. Center to the book’s content was concerning his life in the early 1920s as a student at the Harvard School in Chicago. He told me of the Leopold and Loeb murders (I had not heard of them to that point) and how he was the original target of the murderers. He stated that he was saved when his driver picked him on his walk home to to take him to the dentist that day - so he was not where the murderers had planned grab him and instead picked up young Franks. Deutsch was their prime target since was was grandson of Sears CEO Julius Rosenwald Mr Deutsch died in 2005 but somewhere I have a signed copy of his book. Just passing this along

So. Good.
Chilling. Informative. Narrated well. By far, one of my favorite podcasts!

Great job!
Really enjoying your stories! I am definitely a fan of the longer stories...you are really a talented storyteller... my new go to💕 Such a sad story, there are no words, the only solace is she is at peace.. RIP sweet child

Great dark pod
Listen if you’re a fan of super dark subjects. The host is sensitive and respectful to victims. Love Justin.

I love it!
I love that this podcast cuts out all of the fluff and needless speculation that many other crime podcasts use to fill their time. His voice is just a bonus: gritty just like the material. ❤️❤️❤️

Well Researched & Respectful
I discovered this podcast late in the game, I am ashamed to say. I have binged over 20 episodes while remodeling my home and it has made the work melt away. I am especially impressed with the Leopold and Loeb episodes. A lot of research went into this three part series and nearly all episodes hold up to this standard. Caster has the talent to present doom and gloom with a sense of humanity and sensitivity to the victims that is missing from some other pods. Also, job well done using audio sources with supplemental storytelling seamlessly.

Love it!!
So good- no sugar coating here

My new favorite
I love it all. From the voice to the stories to the fire. It’s my new favorite. I don’t follow pod drama but I see alot of haters in these reviews. Don’t listen to them, they’re crazy.

“Welcome Listener”
I love his intro “Welcome listener. I’m glad you’re here” It helps me settle into the the story, and love the crackling fire. He covers interesting cases, most I wasn’t aware of...Sound bites too from victims and perpetrators. I recommend for sure.

The Best Out There
This is the most personal, in-depth narrative of true crime out there. Justin is a brilliant storyteller who truly immerses himself into every episode. I’ve listened to dozens of true crime podcasts and there is none better than Obscura. Well done!

All 5 Stars
I am loving this, I have no idea how every reviewer isn’t 5 star! I’m stuck binging every episode. Will recommend to my family, who is also big crime everything!

Covered in awesome sauce!
HOOKED 🙋🏽‍♀️ Justin retells these stories so well that I can picture it all (which isn’t always a good thing). But, he’s my new favorite podcast and I’m trying not to binge listen to them all at once! So glad I heard an ad for it and decided to try it! Awesome job guys!

Great show!
I LOVE Justin’s voice. I love that he’s a real person covering some crazy stuff. This is the only pod I’m apart of patreon! Love it!

This is my favorite true crime podcast!
This podcast was recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy. The writing is great and it has some audio which combined makes a great podcast. I am very sensitive to noises and voices and I LOVE the host’s voice. I highly recommended this podcast. I would give it 100 stars if I could.

My favorite
Justin has the perfect voice. It’s a shame to see him attacked by another podcast.

Definitely check it out
This podcast is amazing; don’t believe the bots giving 1-star ratings! I love the way the stories are told, and the content is more -obscure- than other true crime podcasts.

Fantastic Podcast!
I just recently got into this podcast and absolutely fell head over heels for it! Between the production and delivery, it's just an all around great show. The host is genuine and really respectful to the victims involved and very informative. I highly recommend this podcast to any true crime buff!

I’m in love
Never heard of this one before. Now I’m hooked. Just wow.

This podcast scared me
I’ve never been disturbed from a podcast but this one did it. Congrats.

Love the stories
I know most of the stories, but the narrator makes them sound new. I don’t mind his narration. I feel like there are stories on here that I hadn’t heard of before.

Excellent podcast
I really want to thank you for continuing with this podcast. Your social commentary is scientific and empathetic. You are awesome and the people that have given you a 1 star are crazy in my opinion. Keep it up!!!!

You talked about your life changing in an instant. I know for a fact how it affects the rest of your life when you are kidnapped and raped. When I hear these stories I get thrown straight back into my own horror and I feel for any woman who has lived to tell their story. It makes you stronger but definitely more fearful of life as you know at anytime some monster can just pop up and take you Thank you for your sensitivity and really great content podcast. This sure is one of the best I have listened to and your voice is very soothing Keep up the good work

Interesting content and the narrator voice is soothing.
I like to listen to this podcast while driving and also when I’m cleaning the house and stuff. But I also sometimes listen as I’m falling a sleep. It’s something about his voice that’s sooo soothing to me! Most ppl either LOVE it or HATE IT. I think most ppl LOVE IT! Thanks for doing these😊

Great show!
I’ve been a true crime junkie for as long as I can remember. This is by far my favorite podcast in the genre. The show is deeply interesting, with a keen attention to detail, while still being very respectful to victims and their families. Five stars, and would give it more if I could!

Binge worthy
I heard of this channel threw Crime Junkie. She said “if you’re looking for something a bit more gory, giving details we would likely sugar coat give them a listen” and here I am. I work 12 hour shifts and I very much enjoy your hour long podcasts, your own real and personal tidbits, and the chills that come with some of the details or clips added. I shared this channel with my Wife and has recently been the topic of almost every conversation during our breaks or drives home from work.

You really should have a higher rating!
I really enjoy your style of storytelling! Please keep it up. I’m gonna donate tomorrow (as usual, it’s 3am and I’m listening to your podcast).

Awesome job Justin
You are doing a great job Justin. Keep up your unique story telling creativity and I’ll keep recommending your podcasts to everyone I know, you rock it the Justin way!
